Some pieces get made because I want to make them. This one got made because I had no other choice.

I wore this belt on my wedding day — and I made it knowing, from the very first link, that it was meant to find someone else after.

When I started planning my wedding, I went looking for a genuine turquoise belt — something real, something handmade, something with weight and soul to it. I couldn't find one that fit me. I'm a plus-size woman, and the market for truly fine western jewelry made for a body like mine was essentially nonexistent. So I did what I do: I made it myself. And I made it adjustable on purpose, so that whoever came next wouldn't have to settle either.

But there was more to it than that.

My dad passed away in February 2024. He was the one who gave me my first real piece of turquoise jewelry — the one he pressed into my hands and called my first piece of real jewelry. He's the reason I fell in love with the Southwest. The reason country music lives in my chest. The reason I care so deeply about the land and the stones and the whole world that western jewelry belongs to.

He wasn't at my wedding. But I wore the turquoise necklace he gave me, and I needed something worthy of standing beside it. Something that belonged in the same story. This belt was made to accompany that necklace. Not to replace what he gave me, but to build around it. To say: this world he introduced me to, I've made it mine.

I designed it as a piece with a life beyond mine. It was never meant to stay. It was made for my wedding day, yes — and it was made for the woman who would wear it next, whoever she turns out to be. There is no "second owner" of this belt. There is the maker, and there is the person it was always traveling toward.

Eight genuine turquoise stones, all hand-set in sterling silver bezels with rope-wire detailing. Seven stones run across the front — a mix of rich teal rectangles and a teardrop accent — and one additional stone hangs softly from the chain clasp. The chain itself is entirely handmade by me, link by link, alternating round wire and rope wire in sterling silver. Nothing about this piece was rushed. I made it for the most important day of my life, which meant I made it as well as I possibly could.

It has been worn once, on the day it was made for. It is in perfect condition and ready for its next chapter.

This is a heirloom. It will outlast both of us.
